An important change to your prescription drug benefit took place on January 1, 2026.
Nevada Medicaid started their Single Preferred Drug List (sPDL) for all Nevada Medicaid members on January 1, 2026. As part of the sPDL project, all health plans providing services for Nevada Medicaid members, including Health Plan of Nevada, must use the same PDL maintained and published by Nevada Medicaid. This means that some medications that were previously covered may no longer be covered or may have different types of restrictions. Most medications will not be affected.
Members using medications not covered under Nevada Medicaid’s sPDL will be able to fill their medications through June 30, 2026. After July 1, all members must follow the Nevada Medicaid sPDL. You will get more information if you are specifically affected by this change. If you start a new medication before July 1, the new sPDL rules will apply.
You and your provider make decisions about your treatment, including decisions about prescription medications. Please contact your provider or pharmacist before June 30 to determine the best course of action for your specific needs, including exploring covered alternatives.
